Anglo-Saxon Poetry

As though my pile of books wasn't big enough, my father passed two more along today. The first is a written adaption of the movie "Battle Royale." It was written after the Japanese film premiered, and delves in to the backstory of the characters. Those who love The Hunger Games will find this movie (and book) eerily similar.

The second volume is actually a collection of Anglo-Saxon poetry, translated into modern English. My dad hoped it would be an inspiration to me.

And boy howdy, has it!

I drafted a few ideas after reading several poems, and then settled on one idea. I think it will be flash fiction, and I'm trying to write it more lyrically. It could be a huge flop, but who knows! For now I'm just excited to have something so new - so different - to work on.

So, tell me, where do you get your inspiration from?
